Professional Packing Services in Durham, NC
Full-house packing in Durham costs $600 to $1,200 for a typical 3-bedroom home, materials included. A two-person crew handles most homes in a single day. Truckin' Movers packers average over 10 years with the company, and everything we pack is covered under our valuation policy.
Packing is the part of moving that eats the most time. A kitchen alone can take a full day if you're doing it yourself. Our crew knows how to wrap a wine glass so it survives a cross-country truck ride. They know which boxes to use for books (small ones, so they're not too heavy) and which ones to use for linens (large ones, packed loose). They bring everything and work through your home room by room.
What Full-Service Packing Includes
All materials. We bring double-wall boxes in every size, packing paper, bubble wrap, tape, wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes, dish-pack boxes for the kitchen, and mirror cartons for artwork. You don't need to buy anything.
Every room. Kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, garage, attic, basement. If it's going on the truck, we pack it. Drawers get emptied and contents boxed. Shelves get cleared. Closets get packed into wardrobe boxes.
Labeling. Every box is labeled by room and contents. When we unload at your new place, the kitchen boxes go to the kitchen, the bedroom boxes go to the right bedroom. No guessing.
Fragile item handling. Dishes are wrapped individually and packed on edge in reinforced dish-pack boxes. Glassware gets cell dividers. Electronics are cushioned and boxed with padding on all sides. Lamps get specialty cartons.
Specialty Packing for High-Value Items
This is where our 49 years of experience really shows. We've packed museum collections, rare book libraries, antique furniture, and fine art for moves across the country and overseas.
Fine art and oil paintings are "floated," meaning we build a buffer around the canvas so nothing touches the painted surface. Frames get corner protection and custom wrapping.
Antiques and heirlooms get acid-free tissue paper and custom padding. If the piece needs a crate, we build one to fit. We've packed grandfather clocks, marble-top dressers, and Civil War-era furniture.
Pianos get blanket-wrapped and secured with piano boards and straps. Grand pianos are partially disassembled, with legs and pedal assembly removed and wrapped separately. Our crew has moved hundreds of pianos.
Partial Packing: You Pick What We Handle
Not everyone wants full-service packing. Some people want to pack their own clothes and books but don't want to touch the kitchen. We get it.
With partial packing, you tell us which rooms or categories to handle. Most families ask us to pack the kitchen (fragile, time-consuming) and the living room (bulky, awkward), then handle bedrooms and closets themselves. We'll give you a box kit with the right sizes and quantities for the rooms you're doing on your own.
Unpacking at Your New Home
We offer full unpacking too. Our crew opens every box, places items where you direct them, and removes all packing materials, boxes, and paper. Your home goes from stacked boxes to livable in a few hours.
Most families have us unpack the kitchen and common areas on move day, then take their time with bedrooms and personal items. That's a solid approach and it keeps the cost down.
