Bungalows, Steep Stairs, Ninth Street Parking
Similar to Trinity Park. Historic homes with character but narrow doorways and steep stairs. Ninth Street parking can be tight on moving day. We've been moving families in Old West Durham long enough to know which streets work for a full-size truck and which ones need a smaller vehicle. These early 1900s bungalows, mill houses, and cottages have original features worth protecting, and our residential moving crews treat them accordingly.
Doorframes in these homes are a few inches narrower than modern construction. That matters when you're trying to get a sofa through. We measure before move day so we know what fits and what needs to come apart or go through a window. Stairs are steep with tight turns at the landing. Floor runners and door protectors go down before anything gets carried.
The Ninth Street area is one of Durham's busiest strips. On weekends, parking is competitive with the shops, restaurants, and coffee spots. We try to schedule Old West Durham moves for weekday mornings when we can. When that's not possible, we plan parking in advance and keep the truck positioned so we're not blocking more than we need to.
We've moved families out of renovated bungalows on Iredell Street and into new builds near West Village. If you're in Old West Durham, we know your neighborhood. Call us at (919) 682-2300.
