We won the 2026 BBB Torch Award for Ethics.
This one matters to us. The Torch Award isn't given for how big a company is or how much revenue it books. The BBB awards it to local businesses that prove they operate with real character, build a culture worth working in, treat customers fairly, and invest in the community they serve. Four pillars. That's the whole rubric.
In our 50th year of doing this work, getting recognized for how we operate, not just how much, matters more to us than any other award we've ever earned.
What the Torch Award Measures
The BBB looks at four areas. You can't buy your way in. You can't apply your way in. The BBB evaluates you against businesses across the region, and a panel decides.
- Character. Does leadership set an ethical tone?
- Culture. Are employees valued and held to a real standard?
- Customers. Is pricing honest, communication clear, and treatment fair?
- Community. Does the business give back to the place it serves?
How We Got Here
Character
Doug Carlton started this company in 1976 with $300 and a legal loophole that broke a government monopoly on moving. The ICC investigated. The IRS audited. Allied, Global, and Wheaton sued. We won. Fifty years later, the same person still runs the place.
Culture
Our average crew tenure is over 10 years. Not a typo. Ten years. In an industry built on turnover, our people stay because we love them, empower them, and keep them. Same crews, same names, same standards on every job.
Customers
No lowball quotes that balloon on move day. No "we'll deliver sometime next week." We give you a specific date for pickup and a specific date for delivery, anywhere in the 48 states. We commit, we stick to it, and we handle your stuff like it's our own.
Community
We've been part of Durham since 1976. Over 20,000 families moved. Three generations of the same families calling us back. We've hired locally, supported local schools, and answered the phone the same way for half a century. This is home.
Earned the Hard Way. One Move at a Time.
"I'd give them about a 117 on a 0 to 100 scale. A 2,000-mile move for us. Our point person, Brad, was just great. Shoulder to shoulder every step of the way. It never occurred to me to use a local mover when we were moving from Arizona to Chapel Hill. Our realtor recommended Truckin' and it was a winner. Their crew chief was there to pack us up and to unpack us. They arrived when they said they would. They delivered when they said they would. We made a 2,000-mile move without a single scratch on a piece of furniture. Thanks, Truckin'!"

The Torch Award isn't a popularity contest. It's an ethics review. Backed by 600+ five-star reviews, a 4.9 Google rating, a BBB A+ since day one, and now the Torch Award, our track record holds up under scrutiny. That's the Raleigh-Durham mover Gayle and 20,000 other families have trusted since 1976.
50 Years. Same Standards.
We started in 1976 with $300 and a lot of hope. Fifty years, over 20,000 families, and one ethics award later, the same standards still apply. Show up when we say we will. Handle your stuff like it's our own. Tell you what we're going to do, then do it.
Thank you for trusting us with your moves all these years. We couldn't have earned this one without you.
