International Movers to South America Since 1976
We've been moving families overseas since 1976, and South America is a regular route for us. Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador. From your home in North Carolina to your new address in South America, we handle the full job. Packing, crating, customs documentation, ocean freight, and delivery at the destination.
How an International Move to South America Works
Every move starts with a survey. We'll walk through your home (in person or by video) and inventory everything you plan to ship. That survey drives your quote. Once you book, here's the process:
- Packing and Crating: Our crew packs your household using international-grade materials. Custom wood crates for fragile and high-value items. South American customs agents inspect shipments closely, so proper packing and labeling matter more here than on some other routes.
- Customs Documentation: We prepare your detailed inventory, bill of lading, and all U.S. export paperwork. South American import rules vary by country, and Brazil's are particularly strict. We coordinate with destination requirements before your shipment leaves port.
- Ocean Freight: Your container ships from a U.S. East Coast port. Transit runs 2 to 5 weeks depending on the destination. Northern South America is a short run. Southern ports like Buenos Aires take longer. We track the container at every stage.
- Destination Delivery: Our partner agent handles customs clearance at the South American port and delivers to your new home. They'll unpack on request and remove all packing materials. The customs process can take a few extra days in some countries, particularly Brazil.
What You Handle, What We Handle
You handle your visa, flights, and personal documents. We handle everything that goes in the container. Packing, loading, export paperwork, ocean shipping, customs clearance, and delivery. If you need storage in the U.S. before departure, we've got climate-controlled options in Durham County. We've been coordinating moves across six continents for nearly 50 years.
Timelines and Planning
Plan for 6 to 10 weeks from booking to delivery for most South American destinations. Colombia and northern ports are faster. Brazil, Argentina, and Chile take longer, partly because of extended customs processing. Start the process at least 6 weeks before your travel date. Packing at your home takes 1 to 3 days depending on the size of the household.
